MDGuidelines was originally created by Dr. Presley Reed who found a lack of medical advice regarding the objective recovery timeframes for individuals to return to activity after an injury or illness. Today, lost productivity due to injury and illness costs U.S. employers more than $530 billion per year. However, research indicates that returning to activity after an injury or illness benefits both the physical and mental health of an individuals to productive endeavor, while providing improved productivity and healthcare savings for employers.

The development of evidence-based guidelines requires a close collaboration between ACOEM and a university-based research team from the University of Utah’s Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health. ACOEM ensures that multidisciplinary panels of medical experts supporting the guideline development are trained in evidence-based methodology and that guidelines are externally peer reviewed.

During 20-plus years in publishing and healthcare, Joe has developed an intuitive approach to data as well as expertise in marketing, advertising, and digital strategy. Joe has held leadership roles at Success Media, Billboard, and Health leaders, Inc., where he launched Health Leaders magazine. Prior to MDGuidelines, he served as Vice President/Group Publisher at Eagle Publishing. Joe is a graduate of Manhattanville College and has studied integrated sales and brand marketing at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Peter oversees product innovation, data analytics and research initiatives for MDGuidelines, and has spent more than 20 years developing and marketing healthcare technology. Before joining MDGuidelines, Peter was Executive Director of Consumer Health Solutions at Truven Health Analytics, where he managed the company’s consumer health portfolio. Prior to Truven, Peter worked at Apple, Inc. Peter graduated from Brown University in Providence, RI.

David Van Ginkel is MDGuidelines’ Senior Business Intelligence Developer. David joined ReedGroup in 2014, bringing over 20 years of relational database and software development experience. His experience includes front-end OLTP systems through Enterprise Data Warehouses, including several years as a Microsoft Certified Trainer. He now focuses on importing, cleansing, and managing the large amounts of external data utilized by his MDGuidelines team. David holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Cincinnati.

Now completing an MS in Instructional Design and Technology from the University of Arizona, Lori earned an MA in Communication Arts from the New York Institute of Technology and a BS from the Pennsylvania State University.
